So it’s been a while since my last post and I am guilty of not responding to some very nice comments on the site. I plan to catchup this week!
This is my niece Erin and the shot is called ‘Erin Ag Damhsa’ (or Erin Dancing). Landscape and nature photography will always be my first love but type that of photography takes planning and time and I have very little of the latter right now. As a result I have not produced a lot of work this year so I decided to set myself a monthly assignment, this month it’s movement.
Erin was wearing a dress and happily spinning around until I approached with the camera. I had to bribe her to continue and allow me take some shots. Once the deal was done and the chocolate changed hands she was off spinning around the room. I began to take a few shots with a shutter speed that just allow me to retain enough detail, especially in the face and this shot is the result. There were a few to choose from but l liked this one in particular, she was spinning around and enjoying herself so much that she nearly fell over and she just regained her balance when I snapped this.
I was happy I managed to capture the movement in the hair, dress and feet but I was delighted to capture her face too. I alway like to have the eyes in a shot when possible. She is such an energetic and happy little lady and I think I caught a bit of that in this photograph.
